From Mali to the Paralympic podium

I’m Adiaratou Iglesias, although most people know me as Adi. I’m a Spanish Paralympic sprinter. My journey has taken me through Mali, Logroño and Lugo, and led me to an opportunity that changed my life: athletics.
Sport has taught me discipline, perseverance and teamwork. At Tokyo 2020, I won gold in the 100 metres and silver in the 400 metres.

“You have to face your fears and look for solutions. There are always solutions.”

History

From Bamako to the top of the podium

Adi’s story is a journey across countries, cultures and new opportunities. She arrived in Spain as a teenager and began a new life in Galicia.

On the track, she found freedom, confidence and a place to show her full potential. What began as a passion became an international sporting career that took her to the top of the Paralympic podium.

Today, she continues to train, compete and share a story of sport, identity and the future.
